Comfortable mountain life in Åre Sweden

Text: Anne Adsten, Jämtland Härjedalen Turism

Åre in the summer offers a beautiful contrast to its famous winter persona of being the sports capital of Scandinavia. It transforms into a haven for outdoor enthusiasts with activities like hiking, biking, and kayaking in the summer with lots of options for fine dining.

A haven for outdoor enthusiasts

Åre Mountain Resort offers more activities than there is time for in a week with treks, bike trails, paddling, fishing and family fun.

The long, bright days are perfect for exploring the stunning mountain scenery, enjoying the Åre lake, or simply relaxing in the fresh air.

Evenings offer a peaceful atmosphere, ideal for enjoying a meal in the village center, with a view or an evening hike in the light of the near midnight sun.

The winter slopes are filled with trails for hiking and biking. There is both downhill (ski lifts are turned into lifts for you and your bike in the summer) and trail biking as well as gravel roads and road cycling. The lake is perfect for SUP, kayaking and other water activities.

Visit the Fröå culture reserve to see the restored buildings from the copper mining epoch and join a peaceful service at the Åre old church.

Åre Mountain resort offers a wide variety of fine dining as well as fast food options and there is hotels, cabins and apartments for a comfortable stay.
